The Keen Footwear Goal

Keen Footwear was founded in 2003 with two goals: to bring new innovations in protective, comfortable, performance footwear and to develop a company based on core beliefs of individual freedom and mutual respect.

Keen Footwear's initial efforts to correct a new and unique category of footwear defined their approach: hybrid products for hybrid usage for the hybrid lifestyle of so many active people. Keen Footwear Newport & H2

The Newport is the foundation of the Keen Footwear line. Designed to perform in adverse conditions, the Newport H2 has a razor-siped outsole and 3mm lugs to provide excellent traction. A true hybrid, the synthetic uppers withstand the abuse of saltwater and dirt, while providing supple comfort and stylish looks. Available in navy with royal, charcoal with royal and black.

Keen Footwear Jamestown & Uptown

The Jamestown Keen Sandal is the evolution of the classic fisherman sandal. The fit and comfort are closer to your favorite old "tennies" than any sandal. Waterproof leather uppers are extremely durable and retain their appeal after extended use. A simple, easy to use ladder-lock buckle offers easy adjustment with just one hand. Available in brown leather and black nubuck.

Keen Footwear Hood River

The Hood River is performance driver for the water sports fanatic. Providing superior traction on slick surfaces such as boat decks are polished canyon walls. The pull-through strapping captures the foot and limits slip-on the contoured footbed. Available in black with yellow or navy with grey.

1) Newport vs. Newport H2?
The Newport upper is made with waterproof nubuck, and the Newport H2 upper is made with polyester woven webbing. Both are water proof and very durable. The H2's footbed is all EVA so will not absorb water which makes it a better choice for extended submersion wear. In addition, as the H2 is all synthetic, it is a "vegan friendly" shoe (as is the Hood River).

2) Hike-ability?
The lug pattern of the Jamestown, Newport, and Newport H2 is essentially the same. On the Newport and Newport H2, there are pods on the forefoot and heel that are razor siped to help prevent slipping on smooth, wet surfaces. Otherwise, the outsole and midsole provide the same support. The upper on the Jamestown is suitable for walking and light hiking, but is build more for comfort than the technical performance of a hiking shoes, therefore the Newport would be a better chice as it has more adjustability in the upper and is more conducive to active sports, not just sailing. Because the "fingers" cradle the foot and an elastic lacing system controls the tension on each "finger, you will find you have a more secure fit while retaining the open comfort of a sandal.

3) Drying Time of the Newport vs. Newport H2?
For quick drying, the Newport H2 has polyester webbing and a hydrophobic foam lining that does not absorb water. The Newport uses the same lining, but the upper material is waterproof nubuck leather which will absorb some water and will therefore take longer to dry. Just in terms of pure weight when dry, the H2 is lighter and will dry a little quicker.

4) Sizing?
The men's shoes are built on a D width last, the women's are built on a B width last. They run fairly true to size, but some find them a little short and go up a half size.

Men's: 7-14 half size 7-12 then, 12, 13 and in the Newport and Newport H2 in 14

Women's: 6-11 including half sizes and the Newport, and Jamestown are also available in 5/5.5.
